Motorcycle brake warning signs that should not be ignored
A spongy lever, metal-on-metal noise, dragging wheel or strong braking vibration deserves prompt inspection.
If lever or pedal travel suddenly increases, the feel changes markedly or braking power drops, continued riding can turn a service issue into a safety risk.
Pad thickness is only one part of the system. Disc condition, caliper movement, fluid, hoses and ABS sensors where fitted also affect braking behaviour.
Metallic scraping, a wheel that does not release or strong vibration under braking should be treated as reasons to arrange inspection promptly.
This is general technical guidance. Torque values, service limits, pressures and parts compatibility must be confirmed for the exact model and year.
