Coolant loss should not be ignored. A leak can behave differently when hot, so the system is inspected under appropriate and safe conditions.
What is reviewed?
- Radiator surface and connections
- Hose cracking or swelling
- Clamps and connection points
- Expansion tank/level condition
- Dried coolant traces
Model-specific limit: The radiator cap is not opened on a hot engine because of burn risk.
